If we define sleep as part of a clear cycle of activity and recovery so can we see that all creatures sleep. Even unicellular organisms exhibit a cycle of activity and recovery.
When we are active, we must use energy. This energy is stored in our bodies. When we consume this energy the body produces a waste. The brain stores all the time the information under our active time. It is primarily the brain recovers itself during sleep.
In the animal world there are large variations in the duration of different animal to sleep. Horses only need to sleep six hours while the bat is sleeping 18 hours each day. A dolphin requires a special solution to meet their need for sleep. The solution is that dolphin sleep with one brain awake. Predators can sleep almost anywhere and at any time while prey animals have to find solutions that protect them from predators when they are sleeping. One solution is staying in a flock, but there is always someone awake and can alarm.
The need for a safe sleeping place is important for us humans too. We have a bad smell, we have poor hearing and our sight is poor. In darkness, we see almost nothing.

Your attention is decreasing dramatically. Driving is very dangerous. Many car accidents caused by driver have fallen asleep.
After one days without sleep for almost all perform normally but only for a minute. After 5 minutes, you get hard to focus yourself. This is more characteristic of monotonous work. The ability to make complex decision-making requires that the brain can think new thoughts. This ability is reduced significantly in just one night of insomnia. Memory is very dependent on you getting enough sleep. After one day without sleep, you have reached a level where you can no longer save new information into your brain. Insomnia has led to the gutting work that takes place in the memory as you sleep has not been made. your biological sleeping clock

Among many people in our society it is considered as ‘fine’ to sleep as little as possible. This approach is reflected not least among young people. Sleeping is something you prefer not to do. If someone tells you that you have trouble sleeping is seen as a sign of weakness. In these groups there is a kind of status in that sleep as little as possible. This is an ideal that can lead to very unhealthy effects. As much as we want, we can not ignore that we have a fundamental need for sleep and that we function and feel better if we sleep regularly. We also risks becoming ill if we do not get enough sleep. An opposite view can also be problematic. Many think so much of their sleep problems that this concern is a big problem. It is common to have too high expectations on how long you have to sleep. We must understand that all people do not sleep eight hours every night. We must also understand that sleep changes with our age. It is normal to wake up a few times every night if you are older. You may also wake up earlier in the morning. If you know that it is natural, it is easier to live with these changes.
